The Missing Link To Saving Your Relationship

By Dr. George Karanastasis

Saving Your RelationshipWhen it comes to advice on saving your relationship there are two components commonly discussed: the right mindset and a practical plan. And while these two elements are indeed crucial to your success, they’re only half of the equation.

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how your state of mind and approach are responsible for repairing your relationship and the fundamental (yet most often overlooked) constituent that links them together.

In order to effectively tackle this challenge of saving your relationship you need a plan. But before you can craft this plan you must to be in the right state of mind. Not only is it necessary for you to want it to work but to truly believe that it can. Additionally, you must put aside your emotions so that you’re operating from a position of reason rather than one of desperation. Just like any other problem, this too has a solution, and you must be aware of this to treat it as such.

Next, once you’re in the right state of mind and are determined to save this relationship it’s time to create this plan. You have to know exactly what you’re going to do, when you’re going to do it, and what you ultimately want to achieve. Solely focusing on the end result while failing to address the steps you need to take to achieve it is a recipe for disaster. A great man once said that no one plans to fail… they just fail to plan.

And finally, here’s the missing link between the two: a strong support group. If you don’t have someone to stick by you as you’re putting your plan into action, chances are you won’t be able to see it through. It’s not enough just to want to save your relationship or even know exactly how you’re going to go about it.

Because the time will come when you’ll start to doubt yourself and that’s where support groups come in: to help you maintain your logical mindset and overall focus. Also, as time goes by your strategy is bound to need “adjustments” depending on the direction the relationship is headed. Again, that’s where your support group comes in: to examine your progress and work with you to plan your next step.

So how do you go about finding such a support group? There are several ways. You can seek help from family members, friends, and even total strangers. However, one the best sources for support are communities where people are going through the same problems as yourself and can relate to you on the same scale. And that’s because they’re with you in struggle.

In conclusion, saving your relationship (no matter how bad things seem to be) truly is an achievable feat. All that’s required is the right mindset, a proper plan, and a suitable support group that ties them both together.
