Shocking Statistic Reveals 1 In 7 Share K-Fed’s Breakup Fate

By Dr. George Karanastasis | December 20, 2007

Text Message BreakupThere’s no doubt that technology is bringing us closer by leaps and bounds… Email, cell phones, MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, you name it.

Communication has never been more convenient than now. But that convenience comes at a cost: it’s de-humanizing our interactions in the process.

Take Britney Spear’s breakup with now ex-husband Kevin Federline, for example. She dropped the bomb on him in front of millions of television viewers… and through a text message no less! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, we all had a good laugh with that but here’s something that’s not so funny…

According to a recent survey taken by moneysupermarket.com, one in seven people admitted to sharing his fate of a text-message breakup!

And as shocking as this may be, the reason behind it is not. Breaking up with someone is never an easy task. A lot of guilt goes hand in hand with the process. But even though technology serves to blunt this discomfort - it’s clearly a path one should never take.

Getting dumped in itself is enough to make anyone feel like dirt but the way in which the news is delivered can make the experience that much more devastating. And while I’ll be the first to embrace the benefits technology, I believe some things are best dealt with the old-fashioned way…

Besides, I don’t think that’s what AT&T had in mind when they spread the slogan, “Reach out and touch someone.” - My 2 cents… care to share yours?
